Alumna Alex Hairston has been busy on Broadway, performing across the country and teaching since graduating from the high school drama program in 2009. After attending Western Carolina University for musical theatre and dance, Hairston spent time performing with Norwegian Cruise Lines and in regional theatre productions. In 2019, she made her Broadway debut in the hit jukebox musical "Beautiful: The Carole King Musical" as Janelle Woods.
Most recently, Hairston was on the first national tour of "Summer: The Donna Summer Musical" as Disco Donna, the character that represents the disco era of music legend Donna Summer. After the tour was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Hairston transitioned to directing, virtual teaching and creating art for racial justice.

The national tour of Summer: The Donna Summer Musical launches with...the official press opening at the Connor Palace in Cleveland, Ohio, beginning October 8.
The cast is headed by Dan’yelle Williamson (Memphis, Rocky) as Diva Donna, Alex Hairston (Beautiful—The Carole King Musical) as Disco Donna, and newcomer Olivia Elease Hardy as Duckling Donna. The three share the role of the Grammy-winning singer and songwriter at distinct points in her life and career.
The cast of Beautiful - The Carole King Musical are celebrating Black History Month with a new photo series titled "Black is BEAUTIFUL."
Cast member Daniel Torres came up with the idea, saying that he wanted to honor the unsung heroes of the show.
Torres said of the project, "We chose 'Black is BEAUTIFUL' as the title of our project because it exudes pride, confidence, and is a direct nod to the incredible diversity in our show!"

Part of the Broadway at Birdland concert series, the 7pm performance features Tony Award Nominee Saycon Sengbloh (Eclipsed), Telly Leung (Aladdin), Olivier Award Winner Lesli Margherita (Matilda The Musical), Alex Hairston (Beautiful), David Burtka(Gypsy), Joshua Colley (Newsies), Matt Bloyd (NBC's The Four) and Recording Artist Morgan Reilly.

Broadway in Bryant Park is back! The 2018 program brings the best of Broadway together for free performances for six consecutive weeks through Thursday, August 16. New Yorkers and visitors to the Big Apple are invited to come at 11 a.m. every Thursday with performances running from 12:30 p.m. EST - 1:30 p.m. EST on the Bryant Park Stage.

The Black Is Beautiful Project Teams Up With 12,000 Voices
